In kindergarten, I was taught that Columbus discovered America.
But my father had already told me different. He told me there were people on this soil long before colonizers ever showed up, specifically Foundational Black Americans. I remember sitting in that classroom knowing what I'd been taught at home didn't match what was written on the board.
Most people never got that conversation at their kitchen table. So when I started learning more on my own, I didn't have anywhere to bring it. No one to talk it through with. I carried it by myself for a long time.
That's why I started FBA Legacy, as a place to speak out on what I knew was true after years of digging into the research. And that's why I built The Porch. So the people who have that same fire for this information finally have somewhere to bring it, and people who get it waiting on the other side.
